In this lesson, you will learn how to start a spoken conversation, mute your microphone, finish a call, and continue an existing chat using your voice.
Try it: rehearse an introduction
Pretend you are introducing yourself at a local club and want to practice a short conversation.
On the start screen, click the phone icon. You can also use Voice mode beside New chat in the sidebar.
Allow microphone access. If your browser shows Enable audio, click it so you can hear the reply.
Say:
Help me rehearse a friendly introduction at a local club. Ask one short question at a time.Wait for the spoken response and answer naturally.
Use Mute microphone when you want to pause your input. Use Unmute microphone to speak again.
Click Stop to finish the call. When saving succeeds, the conversation is available as a chat. Review the text rather than assuming every spoken word was captured perfectly.
Continue a chat aloud
- Open a saved, ordinary text chat and find its phone icon.
- Click it and confirm Continue this conversation in voice mode?
- Ask a follow-up that uses the earlier discussion. Finish with Stop. If Continue audio is shown for a voice conversation, use it to resume.
The available voice model and capabilities can differ from text chat. Check any access or usage message shown. If the microphone is blocked, allow it in your browser's site permissions and try again.
Check your result
You have practiced a spoken exchange and can distinguish live voice from dictation. You know how to mute and finish the call.
