Search

Sidebar search finds saved chats by words in their titles or messages. Web research is covered in the Multi-Model Research lesson.

In this lesson, you will learn how to search your saved conversations, recognize matching text, and reopen the right chat.

Try it: recover a packing list

Pretend you asked Mono for a packing list last week and now need it again.

  1. If you do not already have a suitable chat, start New chat and ask:

Make a packing list for a rainy weekend by a lake. Include a waterproof jacket.

    Let the answer finish.

  2. Open the sidebar and look for Search.... The field appears once your recent chat history has at least three entries. If it is missing in a new account, create two more harmless practice chats first.

  3. Enter “waterproof” and submit the search using Enter or the search button. Search matches words in titles or message text; start with one distinctive word rather than a long sentence.

  4. Select the matching chat. Look for the highlighted matching text in the conversation and check that it is the list you intended to reopen.

  5. Refine the search with another distinctive word if needed. If there are no results, try a shorter term or a word you know was actually in the chat.

  6. Clear the query and submit it to remove the search results and matching highlights.

A temporary chat is not saved in history and cannot be recovered this way. Deleted conversations are not ordinary search results. Search is also not a promise to search every conversation another person has shared with you.

Check your result

You have reopened a saved conversation without remembering its exact title. You know to search by recognizable text and why a temporary conversation will not appear.
